Dr. Karen Michael attended and presented a poster about the nuances of interpreting environmental microbiological data at the NWHELP General Comittee Meeting at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle on August 9, 2017.
Veritox welcomes Surakshya Dhakal, MS, a summer intern with our exposure sciences group. Ms. Dhakal is a full-time PhD student in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle, where she is specializing in exposure sciences and pursuing her interest in new sampling and analytical methods, biomarkers of exposure, and data analysis.
While at Veritox, Ms. Dhakal will be working on a review of exposure studies on diacetyl with Dr. Coreen Robbins.
Dr. Nadia Moore attended and presented at the 6th Annual Toxic Tort and Environmental Litigation organized by the ACI (American Conference Institute) on June 21-23, 2017 in Chicago.
Dr. Moore was invited to present as part of the session entitled Talc – the Next Asbestos? Analyzing the Recent Explosion of Talc Related Claims. Her presentation reviewed the scientific dataset for talc toxicity, the epidemiological dataset for association with ovarian cancer, and conducted a step-by-step analysis of the dataset with the Bradford Hill Criteria to demonstrate the current scientific dataset fails to establish perineal application of talc as a cause of ovarian cancer.

Veritox supports the University of Washington School of Public Health's new Master's of Science in Applied Toxicology program by providing summer Field Studies opportunities. The program trains students to compete for jobs in private industry, federal, state or local government agencies, or academic institutions that require an MS degree.
