Dr. Fischman received his medical degree at the University of Michigan and his master’s degree in public health in environmental health sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. He did his residency training in internal medicine and in occupational medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and is board-certified in both fields.
Dr. Fischman is a Clinical Professor in and the Assistant Chief of the Division of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of California San Francisco. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).
Dr. Fischman is co-author of a textbook, Chemical Hazards of the Workplace, and the author or co-author of multiple book chapters on various topics including occupational cancer and building-associated illness.
Dr. Fischman actively consults with diverse industries, including semiconductor and chemical manufacturing. He also has more than twenty years of experience as a consultant and expert witness in occupational and environmental toxicology in cases involving metals, pesticides, toxic gases, benzene, and other chemicals.
